I love my x5 pedals but i've kinda wanted to switch to the light action, mainly based solely on looks. the cleat platform is obnoxious with speedplay pedals but it is durable and the pedals are almost maintenance free.
The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed? |

I was also looking at the Shimano Ultegra pedal...any thoughts?

I have the x5s on both my road and tri bikes, nothing better. Not gonna break a cleat with those puppies. Plus gotta love the float and total ease of use.

I roll with Look Keo also, but keep to try out Speed Play sometime soon.

I have been riding Keo Classics for about 3 full seasons... I am going to be selling the pedals and two pairs of halfway worn cleats, if anyone is interested... Probably switching to Speedplay X or Eggbeaters... Main reason for me is cleatwear / walkability...

i like Crank Brothers. the egg beater design is great for easy in/out. The off-road pedals are just an egg beater for good mud-shedding, and the road pedals are still egg beaters but also have a platform. I've used Look and Speedplay and like Crank Bros the best.

The danger with lollypop sized pedals is that they can cause you to cant outwards, which leads to underpronation in running. Weird, I know. I ride eggbeaters myself.

The question: A lateral camber on the pedals transfers to a moment of under-pronation on the run?
Follow-up: Wouldn't this, then, solve the problem 80% of triathletes have with overpronation?
I also have egg beaters. Rode them on the tri bike. Tried all sorts of cleat positions (except on my heel). Couldn't get past the hot spots and distal patellar pain.
They do work great on my trail bike though!
The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed? |

I will not recommend any brand as it may depend how much you want to spend on pedals, I will suggest try any of the below depending upon the shoes you use for biking:
- Flat pedals with sneakers or running shoes
- Toe clips into which you slide your feet while wearing sneakers or running
shoes
- Clipless pedals into which you lock a cycling-specific shoe with an
adjustable cleat
